Ashura Aid
Ashura is considered an expression of sharing and love, a symbol of abundance and prosperity in our religion. If small provisions are bought for the home on the Day of Ashura, there will be prosperity in the home for a whole year. One should greet at least ten Muslims or greet one Muslim ten times. The poor and needy are made happy. Those who perform ghusl on the Day of Ashura will not suffer from minor illnesses for a year.
The Virtue of the Day of Ashura
Our Prophet (p.b.u.h.) said, “Whoever is generous to his family and children on the Day of Ashura, Allah Almighty will grant him abundance in sustenance throughout the year.”
Sufyan al-Thawri (r.a.) (d. 161), one of the prominent figures of the Tabi’un, said, “We practiced this for fifty years and saw nothing but abundance in sustenance.”
Some Events That Occurred and Will Occur on the Day of Ashura
According to the statement of Faqih Abu’l-Layth al-Samarqandi, some of the events that occurred on the Day of Ashura are as follows:
- The creation of the heavens and the earth.
- The acceptance of the repentance of Prophet Adam (a.s.).
- The salvation of Prophet Musa (a.s.) from the evil of Pharaoh, and the destruction of Pharaoh.
- The birth of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) and his salvation from Nimrod’s fire.
- The healing of Prophet Ayyub (a.s.) from illness.
- The salvation of Prophet Yunus (a.s.) from the belly of the whale.
- The granting of sovereignty to Prophet Sulayman (a.s.).
- The resting of the ark of Prophet Nuh (a.s.) on Mount Judi.
- The martyrdom of our Master Hussein (r.a.) also took place on the Day of Ashura.
- It is also informed by the hadith that the Doomsday will occur on the Day of Ashura. (Duâ ve İbâdetler, Fazilet Publications)
