What is Voluntary Qurban?
Voluntary qurbans are an important act of worship and charity for Muslims. Although this worship is not a religious obligation, it carries the purpose of drawing closer to Allah and performing a good deed.

Expression of Solidarity
The “One Qurban, A Thousand Smiles” campaign is not limited to merely sacrificing a qurban. At the same time, this charitable act reflects the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance in society. Bringing a smile to the faces of those in need and supporting them earns love and respect in the hearts of many people.

The conditions for a voluntary qurban are the same as the conditions for the qurban sacrificed during Eid al-Adha. These conditions are as follows:
- The animal to be sacrificed must be a sheep, goat, cattle, or camel.
- The animal to be sacrificed must have completed 1 year of age.
- The animal to be sacrificed must be healthy and flawless.
- The animal to be sacrificed can be slaughtered by its owner or by someone else through proxy.
There is no specific rule for the time of sacrificing a voluntary qurban. A person can sacrifice a voluntary qurban at any time they wish. For example, when a person’s prayer is answered, when a wish is fulfilled, when they are relieved of a trouble, or when they attain a blessing, they may sacrifice a voluntary qurban.
Sacrificing a voluntary qurban is a way of thanking Allah and earning His pleasure. Sacrificing a qurban also helps to gain the pleasure of our Supreme Lord and to meet the needs of the poor and those in need.
It is necessary to make an intention in order to sacrifice a voluntary qurban. While making the intention, it is necessary to state that the qurban is a voluntary qurban. For example, the intention can be made as, “I am sacrificing a voluntary qurban for the sake of Allah.”
Example situations for sacrificing a voluntary qurban are as follows:
- A person getting a job they have been waiting for a long time
- A person recovering from an illness
- The end of a person’s financial difficulties
- A person passing an exam
- A person buying a house or a car
- A person getting married
In such situations, a person can express gratitude to Allah by sacrificing a voluntary qurban.
